3 tips on how to turn your modern workplace into a sustainable business advantage

The pandemic has changed the way companies and employees work and will continue doing so as the positive results in terms of productivity have proven that a remote or hybrid working model is most likely to be the future. Can you use a helping hand in rolling out a sustainable digital transformation strategy? With the following tips you can turn your modern workplace into a business advantage in no time!

The COVID-19 pandemic was a catalyst for change, making the ability to work from home an absolute necessity rather than a fringe benefit. Companies of all sizes and in all sectors had to adapt, but what about the long run? What will the future workplace look like? One thing is certain, the positive results in terms of productivity and employee experience have proven that the remote working model is here to stay. Successfully reimagine your digital workplace strategy with the following three tips from our CEO, Ulrik Van Schepdael!

1. Remote working is the new reality, embrace it

There is no way around it: the modern workplace, including remote capabilities, should be an integral part of your digital strategy. Why? If you don’t rethink your current workplace strategy, remote capabilities will significantly increase your overall technology spend. Start thinking of the office as just another room in your house where you can get some work done, and start designing a workplace outside of your corporate network, even if it’s the same building.

2. Invest in a durable technology fleet

Adapting to a remote working model requires an increased investment in technology. Even though a one-size-fits-all strategy may seem attractive in terms of management and support, not everyone in your company is performing the same tasks and therefore needs the same device(s). We can help you save time, money, and resources by helping you select the best possible smartphones, tablets and computers taking into consideration the role, work location, connectivity requirements and longevity of your employees!

3. Put employee choice first

A future-proof digital workplace strategy has employee choice in its DNA. With our Workplace Self Service Portal, we offer your employees the possibility of shopping the corporate tools they would like to work with. Based on their function, grade, and team, they will get to choose the device of their choice from a portfolio of products. To make the employee experience complete, the ordered devices will be shipped to their home preconfigured. – The Workplace Self Service Portal, a solution that covers the entire workplace lifecycle and makes the transition towards the modern workplace easy!

Mobco launches the results of a European survey on the future of the digital workplace

Dilbeek, 23rd of June – mobco, a Belgian IT company specialized in (mobile) workplace management, launches, in collaboration with the other EMEA partners, the results of a European market survey that questioned 329 business owners, IT professionals and other stakeholders.

The benefits of flexible, mobile and remote working on employee engagement are well-established but adoption has not always been a top priority for organisations. This changed dramatically during 2020 as the COVID-19 pandemic was a catalyst for change, making the ability to work from home an absolute necessity rather than a fringe benefit.

It is no surprise, therefore, that our survey shows a step change in remote working capa- bility. The percentage of organisations with a majority of the workforce capable of remote working has risen from 50% before COVID-19 to 88% during the crisis. However, this signif- icant increase in adopting and implementing home working solutions at short notice and on a large scale has created several challenges.

What are the major challenges European organisations have faced? How have they addressed these challenges? What steps do they still need to take? These are just some of the questions we asked as part of our European Mobile & Remote Working Survey 2021, the key insights from which are outlined in this report.

Our survey shows that confidence in data security is high, with almost three-quarters of respondents either very or fairly confident in their ability to secure corporate data on remote or mobile devices. However, a closer look at the data suggests this confidence may be misplaced and that, against a backdrop of growing and evolving cyber security threats, organizations need to review the adequacy of their security measures for remote and hybrid working.

Only 37% of the respondents have a mobile threat solution in place, suggesting that security teams are applying less stringent controls on mobile devices than laptop or desktop devices. Additionally, one-third of respondents have not delivered any kind of mobile security awareness training to employees.

This report should help organizations, regardless of the industry they operate in and regardless of how strongly the digital workplace is embedded in their strategy to date.

Ulrik Van Schepdael, mobco’s Managing Director: “Our report shows that organizations that have already invested in a digital workplace strategy and therefore have a strong foundation in mobile technology, are best able to meet the needs of a distributed workforce and offer staff members more choices as well as flexibility and ease of use without compromising security and manageability.”

“We are encouraged that many organizations have laid the groundwork to support the rollout of a digital workplace strategy. However, this report shows that there is still a lot of untapped potential and that more can and should be done to maximize the benefits that the digital workplace brings to businesses across all sectors and sizes.”

Press Release Covid Certificate Scanner

Samsung and mobco launch their first Covid Certificate Scanner.

This collaboration between both companies brings proven technology and expertise together to facilitate safe and simple scanning!

Diegem, Dilbeek May 18 2021 – While the European corona certificate project is being finalised, the Belgian mobco, in collaboration with Samsung, launches ‘Covid Certificate Scanners’. Thanks to the robustness of the Samsung 5 Enterprise Edition, many professionals will be able to enjoy fast and safe scanning – in all conditions. The preconfigured smartphone exclusively reads the presented QR code, while Samsung KNOX guarantees maximum security.

The EU Covid-19 certificate is in the making and will be used to prove vaccination, corona recovery or a recent negative test result. This token will enable safe travel within Europe and might also be used in large public events. The certificate is an important pillar of the exit strategy.

This context is being used by Samsung and mobco to come up with a complete solution to enable safe, correct and simple certificate validation.

Green or red, ready to use in 5 minutes

The exact details of the European digital certificate and the application in the national member states are still being defined. It is however clear the certificate will consist of a QR code that will be readable by third parties to validate the certificate, showing a red or green screen. mobco, leader in managed mobility solutions in Belgium, developed a Covid Certificate Scanner that enables fast, simple and fully secured authenticity validation based on the official app the Belgian government will issue.

Ulrik Van Schepdael, CEO of mobco:”Our Covid Certificate Scanner is developed with one goal, that’s the scanning and validation of the certificates. The device is configured in such a way that it can only run this single scanning application, guaranteeing maximum security and data protection. Equally important is the ease of use. When an organisation or company needs to execute scans, it’s not acceptable the employees would have to download and configure the scanning app themselves. Our device automatically configures itself at first launch, without any user or IT intervention. The scanner is operational in less than 5 minutes.”

Military grade robustness and security

To ensure scanning can take place in all circumstances and to combine reliability with rock solid security, mobco opts for the Samsung Xcover 5, a smartphone designed and build for employees active in a variety of business’ around the world. The device is part of the Samsung Galaxy series and includes a brilliant screen, a durable battery and benefits from advanced data protection thanks to the Samsung Knox platform.

Pascal Bungeneers, Head of B2B Samsung Belgium: “The robust hardware of our Galaxy Xcover 5 Enterprise Edition is perfectly suited for professional users to validate the Covid-19 certificates. Think of events on the beach, festival, restaurants, … The smartphone is IP68 water and dust proof, has 1.5 meter drop protection and can be operated while wearing gloves. It’s compatible with third party charging cradles to fill up the 3000 mAh battery, sufficient to last an entire day. And if all that power would not suffice, the battery can be replaced by the user in seconds.”

Proven technology and expertise

Ulrik Van Schepdael:” This is not our first collaboration in this line of business. We have equipped all security agents of Seris with similar Samsung devices with a specific configuration. That project is one of many where we have proven that a preconfigured and protected smartphone is the ideal solution in very challenging circumstances.”

Pascal Bungeneers:” Aside the robustness of the Samsung Xcover 5, the smartphone incorporates the highest possible data protection technology. Security is not an add-on, but is built-in during the production of the smartphone based on the Samsung Knox platform. This protects each smartphone, wearable or tablet, on the lowest chip level against intrusion, malware or other threats.”

The Covid Certificate Scanner is available, including support and centralised management by mobco, for a fixed price of EUR 243, – excluding VAT (or EUR 373, – excluding VAT with a 12 months mobile subscription).

Press Release: mobco and the the Enterprise Mobility Expert Alliance announce its European mobile IT Academy

Today, at MobileIron Live in Berlin, the Enterprise Mobility Expert Alliance (the EMEA) announced the launch of a European mobile IT Academy that organizes courses and classes across Europe. The launch of the EMEA Academy fits into the strategy of the alliance of preparing companies for the future of the modern workplace.

On Wednesday 15 May 2019, the EMEA launched the European mobile IT Academy at MobileIron Live in Berlin. This EMEA Academy is the latest initiative of the alliance of leading mobile IT companies from Germany, Switzerland, Ireland, the UK, the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg.

“Mobco is one of the founding members of the EMEA alliance, and it was founded with the intention to mainly share technical knowledge between our teams across borders,” says mobco CEO Ulrik Van Schepdael. “But we all noticed a lack of available mobile IT courses for our customers and even for our own teams. That’s why we decided to launch the EMEA Academy.”

By organizing courses on a European level, it will be much easier for IT teams to stay up-to-date with the latest developments in mobile IT. It is even possible for companies to request a specific class and book the expert for an in-house session. “Cooperation is really key when you’re active in mobile IT,” says Björn Kemps, Director of Operations at mobco. “By cooperating in the EMEA academy we are able to share our expertise on a much wider scale and our customers gain access to a broad portfolio of mobile expertise. Our clients will truly benefit from the EMEA Academy.”

The EMEA Academy consists of courses and classes about different mobile IT topics ranging from MobileIron Administrator courses to Microsoft EMS master classes and Mobile Security courses.

You can find the entire EMEA Academy calendar HERE.

an electric step towards the customer

mobco introduces the electric step to get quicker to customers!

As of today, mobco makes electric steps available to its employees to complement the traditional company car. The aim is to reduce travel time, avoid traffic jams and make public transport more attractive.

Office location

mobco Belgium is located on the west-side of Brussels and promotes local employment. The location of the offices outside the Brussels traffic jungle already solves part of the mobility challenges but still, a lot of mobco employees regularly visit customers all over Belgium.

Silver bullet

Unfortunately there is no silver bullet to solve the traffic problem; public transport is part of the solution, but the destination is often not “next-to” the station, bikes are perfect for shorter distances,…
“mobco has chosen for ‘combi-mobility’, it combines car, train and electric step. It’s an and-strategy”, says Ulrik Van Schepdael, managing director of mobco. He was looking for a complementary transport to the company car, not a replacement.

“Our company mission is to innovate the business of our customers, and we should innovate ourselves as well, the way we do business. The electric step will not replace the company car, it will make public transport more attractive and solve the last mile issue.”

With the introduction of the electric step and a smart combination of all available transport, mobco wants to reduce the car travel by 20% and reduce overall travel time by 40% in 2019.

As of now, every employee of mobco will receive an electric step for the first and last mile. The device is easy to be stored, transported and even to be taken into the office – when folded, it’s only the size of an umbrella.

The electric step project is realized thanks to Segway Belgium and WDR Insurances.

Dedicated to work, Seris and mobco on Kanaal Z

Seris, expert in guarding and security solutions, is a mobco customer and has made a deliberate choice for a specific configuration to turn standard smartphones into task devices. The rationale are clear, when apps are critical for the business and the safety of the employee, the solution needs to work all the time.

mobco implemented a solution that allows zero-touch roll-out and full remote control over the device configuration and apps. An impressive improvement in service quality and better communication cost control resulted from the project.
