What is Remote Working?

Remote working refers to work undertaken away from the employer’s typical workplace. This can include both a chosen domestic space, or a remote working hub.

What Are Employer Responsibilities in Relation to Remote Working?

Regardless of whether it is within the normal working environment, or a remote location, the health and safety of employees still rests with the employers. It is the responsibility of the employer to provide everyone within their organisation with a safe working environment, and in doing so, must assess possible risks and ensure full safeguarding of employees.

What Are Employee Responsibilities in Relation to Remote Working?

The responsibilities of remote working employees includes:

• Full cooperation with their employer to follow agreed safety procedures
• Working in accordance with in-house procedures, for example following GDPR guidelines
• Self protection during working hours, for example correctly using equipment
• Reporting any injuries acquired from work activities
