Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5

The Galaxy Z Flip5 offers a stylish, unique folding experience to work productively from anywhere. A deep dive in what’s new.

  • The most notable innovation on the Z Flip5 is the larger cover screen. With the Z Flip5, the cover screen measures 3.4”, that is 3.78 times larger than the previous generation. Once folded open, you get a 6.7” OLED screen with a refresh rate of 120 Hz.
  • With a larger cover screen come more customisation options. The Flex Window also provides you with more useful information, such as news or weather updates. The new Multi Widget View allows you to easily check notifications, but also gives you access to Quick Settings for, among others, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Besides, you don’t have to unfold your phone to view call history and quickly call someone back. Replying to messages can be done with Quick Reply.
  • The Z Flip5 comes with a dual camera set-up containing a wide-angle and ultrawide 12 MP lens on the back. At the front, there is a 10 MP camera.
  • The Galaxy Z Flip5 runs on a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy chip, which we know from the Galaxy S23 series.
  • With this device, Samsung promises four major Android upgrades and five years of security patches.

The Z Flip5 is on sale as of August 7. The device is available in Mint, Graphite, Cream and Lavender. For memory, you have a choice between 8GB RAM with 256GB or 512GB storage. Prices start at €947.21 (VAT exclusive).

With plenty of new features and tools, the Samsung Z Fold5 provides unprecedented productivity on a large screen letting you work efficiently from anywhere. An overview.

  • The improved taskbar ensures dynamic productivity by allowing you to quickly switch between frequently used apps. Productivity is further enhanced with the improved two-handed drag-and-drop as content can be easily moved between apps and screens. Hidden pop-ups allows an app to keep running in the background, allowing you to watch full-screen videos while chatting with colleagues in the floating pop-up on the side of the screen.
  • The S Pen Fold Edition, which was introduced with the Z Fold3 back in 2021, has been further optimised for a superior writing experience.
  • Peak brightness has increased by more than 30 per cent, to 1,750 nits, for optimal outdoor viewing even in bright sunlight.
  • The new Fold also runs on a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy chip.

Galaxy Watch 6 Series

If you are looking for a smartwatch, the options are numerous. But if want one running on Wear OS your options are much more limited. Recently, Samsung presented two new smart watches running on Wear OS, the Galaxy Watch 6 and Watch 6 Classic. Find out all about them.

  • Samsung promises a 20 per cent larger screen with room for more text and a larger keyboard for replying to messages.
  • The Watch 6 series has received a real spec bump. This includes a newer, faster processor. The Exynos W930 succeeds the Exynos W920 from the Watch 5 (Pro). The new smartwatch also comes with more working memory: 2GB instead of 1.5GB. This is useful for launching apps or switching quickly between different apps.
  • The battery capacity of the Watch 6 series has been slightly increased. The smallest model is equipped with a 300 mAh battery, which was 284 mAh with the Watch 5. With the larger model, we also see a small increase: 425 mAh vs 410 mAh.
  • What is new is the substantially higher peak brightness of the AMOLED screens used. According to Samsung, the Watch 6 series reaches a maximum brightness of 2,000 nits. By comparison, the Watch 5 Pro was stuck at 1,000 nits. This makes Watch 6 Series much more readable in direct sunlight.
  • Samsung offers both the Galaxy Watch 6 and Watch 6 Classic in different variants. The Watch 6 is available in 40mm and 44m. The Watch 6 Classic in 43mm and 47mm. Both watches use the same 1.31-inch and 1.47-inch AMOLED screens. The case of the Watch 6 Classic is larger because of its rotating bezel.

The watches are available as of August 7. The Galaxy Watch 6 starts at €252,01 (VAT exclusive) and is available in Graphite (40mm & 44mm), Silver (44mm) and Gold (40mm). The Galaxy Watch 6 Classic starts at €331,01 (VAT exclusive) and comes in Black and Silver.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S9

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 sets the new standard by bringing the premium Galaxy experience to a tablet. An overview of all novelties.

  • The Samsung Galaxy Tab S9, Galaxy Tab S9 Plus, and Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra run on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy processor. That’s plenty of horsepower for multitasking.
  • On the smallest Galaxy Tab S9, you get an 11-inch display. The middle-range Galaxy Tab S9 Plus features a 12.4-inch screen. The largest of the series, the Tab S9 Ultra, has a 14.6-inch display. While there is no change in the size of the screens compared to the Galaxy Tab S8 series, the Samsung Tab S9 series are now powered by a 2K AMOLED display for brighter colors and more contrast.
  • The three tablets offer a 120Hz refresh rate, which you can rate down to 60 Hz to save on battery life.
  • The Galaxy Tab S9 Series now has IP68 certification, meaning it can withstand both dust and water. This makes the devices ideal for rougher working conditions.
  • The Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 has a battery capacity of 8400 mAh, which is 400 mAh more than its predecessor. The Galaxy Tab S9 Plus and Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra get the same batteries as their predecessors, meaning a 10,090 mAh battery in the Plus model and a 11,200 mAh powerhouse in the Ultra model.
  • This year’s upgrade gives the standard Galaxy Tab S9 an in-display fingerprint sensor instead of a side-mounted one.
  • The Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra is equipped with four cameras: a 13 MP primary and 8 MP ultrawide set up at the back and a 12 MP main and 12 MP ultrawide set up on the front. The Galaxy Tab S9 Plus features the same rear camera configuration as the Ultra model. However, it gets a single 12 MP ultrawide camera on the front. The Tab S9 has a lonely 13 MP camera at the back and shares the same camera on the front as the Tab S9 Plus.
  • The overall design of the Tab S9 series hasn’t changed much. The series again features an S Pen – which can be used to to draw on the screen or copy and paste bits of text or images – attachment slot at the back for pairing and charging the stylus. The only difference is that the slot looks more discreet now and matches the shade of the tablets.
  • The Tab S9 runs on Android 13. You may expect four major updates, up to Android 17, and five years of security patches.
  • Samsung is also adding several software features to its tablets. It is now easier to copy-paste assets like images from your phones to the tablets. Besides, Samsung’s Good Notes app comes to the Galaxy Tab S9 series to help end users take advantage of S Pen-exclusive tools like a pencil, felt-tip pen, and marker. Lastly, the DeX mode is becoming more intuitive. It now works with multiple windows, and features a more visible and interactive taskbar. Besides, it lets users expand their workspace by letting them mirror or extend their PC display.

The Tab S9 series consists of the regular Tab S9 with an 11″ screen, the Tab S9 Plus with a 12.4″ display and the Tab S9 Ultra with a screen that measures 14.6″. The entry-level model – with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage – costs €710.21 (VAT exclusive).
